Product Safety & Compliance (UKCA)

At The 3D Printing Shed Ltd, product safety and regulatory compliance are taken seriously. All applicable products are designed and manufactured in the UK using controlled processes and carefully selected materials.

We operate a proportionate quality, traceability, and risk management system in line with applicable UK product safety legislation.

Age Grading, Warnings & Intended Use

None of our products are designed or intended for use by children under 36 months (3 years) of age.

Due to the size and nature of certain products, the following warning applies where relevant:

Warning: Choking hazard. Not suitable for children under 36 months.

Age grading and warnings are determined through documented product risk assessment in accordance with applicable toy safety guidance.

Toy Safety Compliance (EN71)

Where products fall within the scope of the UK Toy Safety Regulations 2011, materials used in manufacture comply with the following harmonised standards:

  • EN71-1 – Mechanical and physical properties

  • EN71-2 – Flammability

  • EN71-3 – Migration of certain elements

Testing is carried out on representative material batches. Test reports and supporting documentation are retained as part of our technical compliance records.

UKCA Conformity & Technical Documentation

Where required, products are assessed for conformity with applicable UK safety legislation.

We maintain appropriate technical documentation, including:

  • Material safety and test reports

  • Batch and production records

  • Documented risk assessments

  • Product identification and traceability records

This documentation is made available to enforcement authorities upon request.

Risk Assessment Summary

All products are subject to a documented risk assessment process prior to sale.

Risk assessments consider, where applicable:

  • Intended use and foreseeable misuse

  • Product size, shape, and structural integrity

  • Mechanical and physical hazards

  • Presence of small parts and potential choking hazards

  • Material composition and surface finish

  • Age grading and suitability

  • Packaging and point-of-sale presentation

Control measures are implemented where required, including material selection, design modification, production controls, and clear age warnings.

Batch Traceability

All products are manufactured using a batch-controlled production system.

Each production batch is internally recorded and linked to:

  • Raw material batches

  • Manufacturing dates

  • Product types produced

This system enables rapid identification and corrective action in the unlikely event of a product safety concern.

Product Identification at Point of Sale

Due to the size and nature of many products, batch information may not be permanently affixed to the item itself.

Manufacturer, safety, and traceability information is provided at the point of sale via:

  • Packaging or paper bags

  • Product labels or stickers

  • Receipts or accompanying information cards

No personal customer data is collected for face-to-face or market sales.
